styling tip #1

Hello friends! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and now are gearing up for the end of 2011 and the beginning of 2012. I hope Santa was good to you this year...if not and/or your Santa mixed up your wish list with someone else...well, don't fret! go return all those unwanted gifts and come to my trainer show on Saturday, January 7th in Centreville and buy what you want! =) if you need detailed information on the show, please message me (pd_susankim@hotmail.com).

I "like"d the premier designs official facebook page and it often lists some informative fashion tips. So I want to test them out weekly. So here is the styling tip #1:

Wearing large earrings gives you the illusion of looking 10 lbs thinner.

Well, what do you think?

Without earrings
with earrings

I don't know about looking 10 pounds thinner but it does look somewhat different...By the way, do you "LIKE" my facebook page? (www.facebook.com/PDSusanKim) I have 49 likes...trying to get to 50...maybe I will have a special drawing when I reach 50 "LIKE"s. =)

Gotta Have It...

I hope you all spent the last weekend before Christmas doing some last minute shopping and crossing off some things off of your "to do" list. But most of all, are you all done with creating your wish list for Santa? I have a long list of things that I want...the biggest thing on my list is the iPad. I've been wanting it for a long time and so tempted to get it for myself but I'm going to control myself and wait until I make some profit from the jewelry business. I believe that it is good to have a goal and a reward for having achieved that particular goal.

However, my wishlist goes on and on... long champ bag, north face jacket, kitchen aid mixer, keurig, and so on. What are some of your things that you "gotta have"?

I spent this past weekend baking and spending some quality time with friends. Each year, my friends and I do Secret Santa gift exchange. I actually do this with 2 different groups of friends. I look forward to this gift exchange every year. Then I met some of my fellow jewelers at a gathering hosted by Rachel. It was great to meet other jewelers and I look forward to future meetings where I will get to meet more of them. At the gathering, Rachel showed some of the jewelries and I must say, I cannot wait until I get my own set of jewelries, not only to wear them myself, but to show it to you all.

Until I get those jewelries, I may just have to enjoy this bracelet that I bought for myself few weeks ago. It's called "gotta have it"...;)

Please excuse the quality of the picture...I hope to take better pictures once I get settled in with all the stuff...=)

Frequently Commented Statements

When I inquire people about possibly hosting parties, there few statements that are often said by them (a.k.a. excuses...haha!). I've never hosted any parties for independent distributors like myself because even though I've wanted to, there was always this fear about hosting - that no one will show up! But now that I'm on the other side, I want to tell you all, my dear future hostesses...FEAR NOT!

So here are some frequently commented statements and my thoughts on them:

1. I don't have that many friends. Don't worry about the number of people. Just invite everyone you know because the worst thing that they can say is no and that is okay! All we need is you and 2 other people to make  a party. I know that any type of rejection is hard to accept but this is not a popularity contest. I won't judge you. They say that to get about 10 people at the party, you would need to invite about 40 people. So basically 1 out of 4 people invited will come to your party. Invite everyone on your email, facebook, twitter, and/or any other social media.Who knows, this might help you reconnect with a friend you haven't seen in a while.

2. My place is too small. Most likely, all 100 people you've invited will not show up. Also, I bet you not all of them will come at the same time. There are always someone that shows up fashionably late, some that leave early, or that one person who doesn't show up after all. And if all 100 people on the list show up, then we will do what we have to do to make the party fun.

3. My house is not clean. Well, maybe it's time to clean then. =)

I will update this list throughout my experience. I hope the few mentioned above help you ease your mind about possibly hosting a party. I definitely have 3 parties booked for January/February, I need 6 more to meet my goal #1...I have several pending. Did I tell you that Premier Designs Jewelry show could help you raise funds for your favorite non profit? If you or your friend(s) are looking for fundraising ideas for a charity, please send them my way. Thanks! =)

Goal Setting

I took one business class in college. I don't remember much from that class but my instinct tells me that one way of being successful in your business would be to set goals. I teach my students at work to set goals that are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely (SMART). =) so why not practice what I preach?! So here it goes...

First Post!

Hello, everyone! I'm excited to be blogging about my new role as a jeweler for the Premier Designs Jewelries. I hope to use this blog, not only to chronicle my journey as a jeweler, but to bring you information about accessorizing and to make your life a little brighter, one jewelry at a time.

The slogan, "Brighten your life, one jewelry at a time" came to my mind because I know that wearing a small piece of jewelry do make me feel "brighter" about myself. I haven't been wearing a lot of jewelries in the past but I hope to change that and with starting this business will definitely make accessorizing part of my morning routine. I think accessorizing makes your cute outfit, cuter. So as I learn about this business and accessorizing (since I'm not the accessorizing guru), I hope to share that with you through this blog.
